Misconduct: Police Service Commission dismisses 10 officers, demotes eight

Nigeria Police Force

There was pandemonium in Kano on Wednesday as armed thugs of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC) clashed.
The clash occurred near the NNPC Mega Station in the commercial city. Five vehicles belonging to the PDP were burnt. One person was also killed.
Guns, machetes and charms were freely used by the thugs.
Security agents later restored peace and arrested some of the combatants.
While the clash lasted, shops were hurriedly closed because some hoodlums wanted to seize the opportunity to loot.
Freedom Online learnt that the crisis started when PDP supporters were on their way to attend a presidential campaign. They were stopped by some APC loyalists and because they resisted, the crisis started.
The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Magaji Majiya, an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) confirmed the incident.
