Ondo lawmakers to CJ: Set up panel to investigate deputy governor

Ondo State lawmakers, on Wednesday, directed the Chief Judge, Justice Olasehinde Kumuyi, to set up a seven-man panel to investigate allegations of fraud, improper conduct and unconstitutional acts levelled against the embattled deputy governor, Alhaji Ali Olanusi.
Speaker of the House of Assembly, Jumoke Akindele, who presided over the sitting, directed the Chief Judge to set up the panel after the 22 lawmakers present had given their consent to the move. Four lawmakers were absent.
The Majority Leader, Ifedayo Akinsoyinu, who moved the motion, said the action was in consonance with Section 188, Subsection 3 of the 1999 Constitution (As Amended) which was corroborated by Fatai Olotu.
The Speaker, thereafter, directed the Clerk of the Assembly to forward the lawmakers’ resolution to the Chief Judge to immediately set up the panel.
The Chairman, House Committee on Information, Kunle Olujuyigbe, declared that the House would follow due process and allow the deputy governor respond to all the allegations against him.
