The Ondo State Government has expressed satisfaction over the success recorded in the implementation of the Resident Card in the health sector.
Commissioner for Information, Mr Kayode Akinmade, made this known on Sunday while speaking with newsmen in Akure on the progress made with the implementation of the residency card also known as Kaadi Igbeayo.
Akinmade said that the utilisation phase of the scheme, which took off with the health sector, has been very impressive, hence government’s decision to spread the implementation to other sectors.
He said the tremendous success has been recorded so far with the implementation of the Smart card in the health sector.
He revealed that between 200 to 300 people registered for the card from the health sector on daily basis.
The commissioner said because of the high rate of residents who turn out daily to register to obtain the card, government was considering multiplicity of registration centres to compliment the already existing Data Points.
He also said that hospitals in the state have been successfully bought into the scheme.
Akinmade urged those who have registered for the card before the utilisation phase to go to their respective centres and collect their cards at no cost.
Before the utilisation flag off, government said it would focus on initial four sectors for the card usage, including health, education, agriculture and micro finance.
Also speaking to newsmen, Mrs Beatrice Awodeyi, said she was at the Mother-child Hospital, Akure, to look after her second daughter who delivered her baby in the hospital free of charge.
She said the services being enjoyed by patrons outweigh the N2,000 cost of the residency card.
Awodeyi said that patrons have been complying with the registration guidelines with no grudge.
At the flag off of the utilisation phase a month ago, government said school pupils and students who enjoy government’s school shuttle scheme would have to present their parent’s smart card to access the facility.
Akinmade listed the purpose of the card to include the facilitation of efficient record keeping.
He also said it would provide solution to anti-corruption crusade in the public service to enable higher level of qualitative and quantitative service delivery in people oriented sub-sector such as health, education, transportation and agriculture.
