Olunloyo: Akala, a threat to Ajimobi’s comeback, says Oyo gov owing pensioners

Former governor of old Oyo State, Dr. Omololu Olunloyo, has described Otunba Adebayo Alao-Akala as a threat to the reelection of Governor Abiola Ajimobi.
He said Alao-Akala’s achievements, when he was governor, would make Oyo State voters support him during the April 11 election.
While Ajimobi is the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Alao-Akala is running on the platform of the Labour Party (LP).
Olunloyo said it was unfortunate that Ajimobi is owing pensioners months of arrears.
“I am also a pensioner. They are still owing us some months, the payment is not regular. Such was not the case during Alao-Akala’s administration. Pensioners were paid regularly and promptly,” Olunloyo said when he paid a surprise visit to Alao-Akala’s residence at Bodija, Ibadan, the state capital.
He revealed that the achievements and size of Alao-Akala were a threat to Ajimobi and other candidates.
He told Alao-Akala: “During your administration, you did creditably well, utilising your wealth of experience both locally and internationally”.
In his response, the LP candidate described Olunloyo as a father to all.
“My performance in terms of prioritising the people’s welfare and human capital development was different and that is why people are yearning for my return as governor and I am assuring the people of Oyo State that I will do things differently as a governor, if elected. The present government has brought hardship to the people through its
policies. We have taken our campaign round the state and the rate of poverty is very high, the state economy is in comatose due to capital flight unlike our own administration when money was in circulation within the state”.
