The Olu of Agboyi Kingdom, Oba Monsuru Oladega, has honored two top officials of the Nigerian Red Cross Society (NRCS) with chieftaincy titles in recognition of their humanitarian work in the community.

In a statement from the NRCS Lagos State Branch signed by Communication Officer Mr Olushola Tejuosho on Sunday, the titles were bestowed during the traditional ruler’s 5th Coronation Anniversary on Aug. 23.

The NRCS Secretary-General, Abubakar Kende, was conferred with the title ‘Aare Tadese of Agboyi Kingdom,’ while the Director of Disaster Management, Mr Benson Agbro, received the title ‘Otunba Fiwagboye of Agboyi Kingdom.’

In response, the NRCS reaffirmed its commitment to serving humanity anywhere, anytime, while upholding the Seven Fundamental Principles of the Red Cross Movement.

“While this royal recognition is a symbol of gratitude for past efforts, it is also a powerful call for intensified humanitarian action to alleviate the suffering of vulnerable people across Nigeria with dedication and compassion,” the statement said.

Freedomonline  reports that the Country Manager of the British Red Cross, Karsten Voight, had earlier been honored with the title ‘Otunba Soludero of Agboyi Kingdom.’

The event brought together traditional and community leaders, Red Cross volunteers, and residents in celebration.
