Olamiti, Wabote, Okar-Donli, 24 others inducted into Anglican Knighthood in Yenagoa

Mr Folu Olamiti, a veteran journalist and 26 eminent Nigerians were on Saturday inducted into the Knighthood of the Anglican Communion at St. Peters Deanary in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State capital.
Olamiti and 18 other men were inducted into the order of Knight of Saint Christopher (KSC) while eight women were inducted into the order of Knight of Blessed Virgin Mary (KBVM).
Also honoured were Engr. Simbi Wabote, Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Content Development and Monotoring Board.
Mrs Julie Okar-Donli Director -General of the National Agency for Protection of Trafficking in Persons.
Seven other women received the Knighthood of Knight of Blessed mVirgin Mary.
At the investiture ceremony, Rt. Rev Emmanuel Oko-Jaja, Anglican Bishop of Niger Delta West Diocese urged the newly inducted Knights to dedicate themselves to selfless service and leadership in the Christian faith.
Oko-Jaja traced the history of knighthood to the leadership crisis that engulfed Christianity.
He said the crisis resulted into the evolution of the Eastern and Western Churches.
He urged the Knights to strengthen the bond of unity in the body of Christ.
The Bishop noted that Knighthood was a call to service and urged the new knights to get involved with humanitarian services and support the less privileged members of the society.
He urged the government at state and federal levels to be fair to all sections of the country as the country belonged to all Nigerians.
He charged the congergation to participate actively in politics and discharge their civic obligations to ensure that they make contributions to the selection of leaders to run the affairs of government.
Dignatories that attended the occasion include Chief Nathan Egba, a former Commissioner for Information in Bayelsa State and Chief Serena Dokubo-Spiff, immediate past Secretary to Bayelsa State Government, amongst others.
