Governorship candidate of the Alliance for Democracy (AD) in the November 26 election in Ondo State, Chief Olusola Oke, on Monday, shed tears because of the dilapidated state of the road leading to Epe, an agrarian community in Ondo East Council area.
Oke, who wondered why the governor, Dr Olusegun Mimiko, who hails from the area, neglected the place in view of its huge agricultural potential and the role of agriculture in restoring the glory of the state, assured that the AD administration, if voted into office, would redress the situation.
The AD flagbearer, who spoke during a visit to the palace of the Regent of Epe, High Chief Raphael Olabanji, and campaign rally in the community, told the people that the power for the development of the state or otherwise was in their votes as he urged them to cast their votes for the AD, which had been tested in the state with a lot of positive things to show for it.
Oke implored the people to shun moneybag politicians out to amass wealth at the expense of the state and in return plunge it into further debts and underdevelopment.
“There is power in your votes. Do not sell your votes. You have to jealously guard your voter cards to be able to vote in the governor who will make life better for Ondo State citizens. That is what AD has come to represent. Good governance and development in rural and urban areas.
“It is time to sing a new song, song of development in Ondo State. My mission is to turn things around. To stop the plunging of our resources and ensure all-round development. To give our people – youths, women and children – a new lease of life,” Oke said.
The governorship aspirant, who lamented the dilapidated state of the road leading to Epe and dearth of social amenities in the agrarian community, assured that an AD administration, courtesy of the November election, would redress the situation.
Earlier, during a visit to the Regent where the candidate received royal blessings, the community had appealed to Oke, when elected, to consider the road situation of the community, the need for a palace and stable electricity supply.
