An unknown gunman has reportedly shot dead an Okada (motorcycle) rider in Nsukka, Enugu State.
The deceased identified as Ossy (Otigba) who hailed from Ozala in Igbo Etiti local government area of Enugu State, was attacked and killed on Friday night about 8pm and his motorcycle taken away.
He was said to also worked at a car wash along University Road, Nsukka.
He closed work at the car wash about 6:30pm and decided to round off the days business with his new Okada.
He went to town and picked up a passenger along Aku road to Onuiyi junction. As he dropped his passenger, he demanded to be paid. But the passenger pulled a gun from his pocket, and asked for the keys of the motorcycle.
His resistance to surrender the key led to a struggle and in the process, the gunman shot him at close range and zoomed off with the motorcycle.
A senior police officer, who pleaded anonymity, confirmed the incident.
He said that police immediately moved into action to track the fleeing killer. Meanwhile, the body of the deceased was deposited at Bishop Shanahan Hospital Mortuary, Nsukka.
