Information reaching the leadership of the organized labour has it that the Governor Ibikunle Amosun-led State Government has realised the futility in asking workers to sign attendance register as if they are school children. It was to be used for the payment of October, 2016 salary for those who obeyed this command.
As it were, after checking the overall percentage of attendance across government offices, State and Local governments, 4% compliance was recorded.
This very poor turnout shows that majority of our members are doggedly committed to seeing to it that the dignity of the civil/public service is regained. It is because of this failure of theirs the government again hurriedly changed their tactics. Now, they have rolled out forms and asked workers to fill, especially in the Local Governments Service and requesting for OG NO of those stooges on the attendance in the Civil Service.
According to them, whoever that fills the form or submits his or her OG NO will be paid. Let us understand one thing, no employer of labour would treat employees the Ogun State government is treating us and get protection from the laws of the land. The law also covered us having worked for more than a half of the month. If he goes ahead, he’ll only be holding it for keeps temporarily. Let’s ask ourselves, why is the government so desperate to give a diversionary story different from what workers are asking for? It indicates that Governor Amosun has no respect for the state workforce.
In the meantime, this next week is a determiner. The organised labour has received overwhelming support from our national bodies.
Workers are advised to get ready for a rally where national leadership will address workers and, thereafter, lead a march to Oke Mosan.
Please, be informed that under no circumstance shall you be intimidated, victimized or harassed by your participation in the legitimate struggle for your rights.
We call on our members to please ignore whatever antics of the Government to break this very crucial strike meant to salvage the Service.
We have no other time.
We shall be Victorious.

Amandla! Awhetu!

Secretary, JNC for the Organized Labour.
