Misconduct: Police Service Commission dismisses 10 officers, demotes eight

Nigeria Police Force

An attempt by a policeman attached to a member of the House of Representatives, Segun Williams, to clear the way for the All Progressives Congress (APC) lawmaker, ended on a sad note on Wednesday evening in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
A stray bullet from the gun hit a female trader named Taiwo (Mama Ola) in Ago-Oko area of the state capital. She died on the spot. Another man sustained injury.
Freedom Online learnt that Williams, representing Abeokuta South Federal Constituency, was coming from a rally in Erunbe when some street urchins (area boys) blocked his convoy with the aim of extorting money from him.
The police orderly emerged from the open roof of a Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) and fired bullets to scare them. Taiwo and the other person were hit in the process.
Taiwo’s 16-year-old daughter, Halimat, did not even know that her mother had been hit until some traders raised the alarm.
When she saw her mother in a pool of blood, she started screaming.
Her remains had been taken to the Catholic Hospital, Lantoro, Abeokuta.
