Ogbeche scores two goals at Utrecht

Bartholomew Ogbeche scored twice in SC Cambuur’s 3-3 draw in the Dutch Eredivisie game against FC Utrecht on Saturday.

The Nigerian forward scored a goal in each half of the game as his club were hoping to claim their first win in the Dutch top division this season.

The 30-year-old striker planted home the opening goal for his team in the 26th minute when he rose highest in the centre of Utrecht’s box to head away Marlon Pereira’s cross past Robbin Ruiter.

Just before the break, Ogbeche’s assist picked out his strike partner Martijn Barton whose left-footed strike was blocked by Utrecht defenders.

Seven minutes into the second half, Utrecht hurled themselves back into the contest courtesy of Willem Janssen’s goal.

But on the 61st minutes, Ogbeche popped up again to restore Cambuur’s one-goal lead. His right-footed effort from close range sailed into the top right corner of Ruiter’s goal.

It looked like Ogbeche’s brace will inspire his club to their first win of the season as Sander van de Streek gave Cambuur a two-goal advantage in the 69th minute.

FC Utrecht fought their way back into the game in the 72nd minute with a lifeline of a goal from former Arsenal schoolboy Nacer Barazite.

With 11 minutes to the end of the game, Cambuur goalkeeper Harm Zeinstra drew a foul and Utrecht got a spot kick. Zeinstra was sent off, leaving Cambuur with 10 men to finish the game.

Janssen converted the penalty to level the game at 3-3 to deny Ogbeche and his teammates their first win of the season in the Dutch league.

Ogbeche has now scored three goals in seven Eredivisie appearances for Cambuur this term.
