The Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) on Friday suspended a goalkeeper, Christy Hussaini, and fined her club, Saadatu Kolo Amazons FC, N150,000 over an attack on an assistant referee.
This is contained in a letter by the Secretary of NWFL, Emmanuel Adesanya, in Abuja.
It said that the suspension was as a result of the goalkeeper’s reported violent conduct in a Week 5 match at the 2015 league in Abuja.
“I wish to refer you to a Week 5 match of 2015 NWFL played in Abuja on Aug. 2 between State House Queens FC Abuja and Saadatu Kolo Amazons FC, Minna.
“The referee reported violent conduct of Christy Hussaini, Saadatu Kolo Amazons FC goalkeeper, for attacking an assistant referee 11.
“In view of the above, the player violated Article 3,7 (1) of the Rules and regulations of the NWFL 2014/2015 season.
“Furthermore, the player Christy Hussaini, is hereby suspended from all Saadatu Kolo Amazons FC, Minna matches until the disciplinary committee of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) takes final disciplinary action,’’ the letter said.
It said that the letter served as a temporary measure and warning to other players that might want to take the laws into their hands.
