The elders of Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT), Kaduna State Wing, have appealed for public support and cooperation to enable their ex-president, Dr Nasir Idris, to transform Kebbi State.
Malam Khalid Mohammed, the Secretary, Elders Forum, North, Kaduna State Wing, made the appeal in a statement issued in Birnin Kebbi on Saturday.
The union expressed optimism that the new governor and ex-NUT president possessed the capacity to fast track development.
According to the secretary, the elders had written a congratulatory letter to Idris, encouraging him to bring his wealth of experience to transform the state.
“People of Kebbi have made a wise choice by electing Dr Nasir Idris as their governor to pilot the affairs of the state in the next four years.
“With his vast experience as NUT Chairman, Kebbi State, National Treasurer, National President as well as National Treasurer, Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC),  and Vice President, NLC, he is adequately prepared for the task ahead,” he assured.
Mohammed however appealed to all and sundry to rally round the new governor to enable him deliver the goods successfully.
While expressing total confidence in his capacity and ability to reposition the state, the scribe also prayed for success in running a smooth administration.
