NSE market indices sustain positive growth

Activities at the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) opened for the week on Monday on a positive trend with All-Share Index appreciating by 0.56 per cent.
The index rose by 137.61 points, closing at 24,827.50 against 24,689.89 posted on Friday.
Similarly, the market capitalisation which opened at N8.50 trillion grew by N47 billion or 0.55 per cent to close at N8.54 trillion.
An analysis of the price movement chart indicated that Seplat led the gainers’ table with a gain of N9.20 to close at N261.31 per share.

Dangote Cement came second with N5.49 per share to close at N151.99 per share, while Vitafoam gained 40k to close at N16.67 per share.

GTBank improved by 12k to close at N16.67 per share, while AfriPrudential increased value by 11k to close at N2.58 per share.

Conversely, Nestle recorded the highest price loss to lead the losers’ chart, dropping by N25 to close at N670 per share.

International Breweries lost N1 to close at N19.14, while Conoil declined by 90k to close at N17.42 per share.

Zenith Bank shed 60k to close at N11.60 per share, while Guinness dropped 58k to close at N118.72 per share.

The volume of shares traded dropped as investors’ staked N2.92 billion on 283.52 million shares transacted in 3,030 deals.

This was in contrast with a total of 311.59 million shares valued at N8.95 billion traded in 2,588 deals on Friday.

Zenith Bank emerged the most active stock, accounting for 140.80 million shares worth N1.64 billion.

It was trailed by GTBank’s 23.19 million shares valued at N385.86 million, while Fidelity Bank sold 21.36 million shares worth N26.33 million.

UBA traded 15.28 million shares worth N44.48 million and Transcorp exchanged 13.49 million shares valued N15.39 million.
