NSE market indicators record marginal decrease

Nigerian stock market extends loss by 0.40%

Activities at the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) on Tuesday recorded a marginal decrease with the market capitalisation dropping by 0.01 per cent.

The market capitalisation, which opened at N11.396 trillion, lost N1 billion to close at N11.395 trillion.

Similarly, the All-Share Index lost 3.75 points or 0.01 per cent to close at 33,380.84 against the 33,384.59 achieved on Monday.
Dangote Cement recorded the highest price loss to lead the losers’ chart, shedding N1.35 to close at N174.15 per share.
Total Nigeria came second with 60k to close at N158.50, while Nigerian Breweries dropped 56k to close at N150.01 per share.
Cement Company of Northern Nigeria lost 40k to close at N11.60 and Guinness decreased by39k to close at N163.80 per share.
Conversely, Seplat led the gainers’ table, growing by N15.79 to close at N31.59 per share.
Forte Oil followed with a gain of N8.90 to close at N188.65, while Mobil Oil gained N7.30 to close at N153.31 per share.
University Press increased by 45k to close at 6.50, while Ecobank Transnational Incorporated appreciated by 44k to close at N22.49 per share.
Zenith Bank emerged the most traded equity, accounting for 42.67 million shares worth N837.153 million.

Mansard Insurance followed with an exchange of 19.03 million shares valued at N56.13 million, while Wapic Insurance sold 18.51 million shares worth N9.25 million.

Vitafoam came fourth with 18.38 million shares valued at N106.51 million and FBN Holdings exchanged 12.79 million shares valued at N105.16 million.

The volume of shares traded dropped by 25.18 per cent as investors staked N2.24 billion on 208.09 million shares exchanged in 3,787 deals.

This was in contrast with 278.11 million shares valued at N3.83 billion traded in 3,467 deals on Monday.
