NSE market indicators close higher

NGX drops further by N301bn on losses by blue chips

Equity transactions at the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) closed on the upward trend after two consecutive days of huge price depreciation last week.

The market capitalisation, which opened at N9.846 trillion increased marginally by 1.08 per cent or N107 billion to close at N9.953 trillion.

Also, the All-Share Index rose by 296.99 points to close at 29,859.06 points compared with 29,562.07 points declared on Friday.

Seplat led the gainers’ chart by N12.77 to close at N318 per share.

Nigerian Breweries gained N6.98 to close at N149, while Nestle grew by N3.75 to close at N804 per share.

Glaxosmith appreciated by N2 to close at N42, while Dangote Cement increased by N1.70 to close at N157.70 per share

On the other hand, Forte Oil recorded the highest price loss, shedding N6.95 to close at N223.05 per share.

7UP trailed with a loss of N5.30 to close at N150.70, while Presco dipped N1.62 to close at N31.04 per share.

UACN lost 20k to close at N37, while ETI went down by 18k to close at N16 per share.

The Financial Service Sector sustained its leading position as the delight of investors with 182.33 million shares worth N1.02 billion in 3,654 deals.

The Banking sub-sector drove activities in the sector accounting for 103.01 million shares valued N769.58 million achieved in 2,772 deals.

In all, the volume of shares traded decreased by 19.78 per cent as investors exchanged a total of 254.843 million shares worth N3.25 billion in 5,501 deals.

This was against the 317.667 million shares valued at N4.751 billion traded in 3,800 deals on Friday.
