NSE All-Share Index hits 39,000 marks

NGX drops further by N301bn on losses by blue chips

Activities on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) on Thursday ended on positive note with the All-Share crossing to 39,000 marks.

The All-Share Index rose by 304.24 points or 0.78 per cent to close higher at 39,119.88 against 38,815.64 achieved on Wednesday.

The market capitalisation also grew by N97 billion or 0.78 per cent to close at N12.513 trillion from the N12.415 trillion posted on Wednesday due to price gains.

A breakdown of the price movement chart indicated that Guineas gained N8.02 to lead the gainers’ chart to close at N250 per share.

Flour Mill chalked up N3 to close at N86.50, while MRS Oil garnered N2.58 to close at N54.44 per share.

Unilever improved by N2.05 to close at N61.30, while Oando appreciated by N1.18 to close at N16.74 per share.

On the other hand, Mobil Oil topped the laggards’ table, losing N1.52 to close at N114.03 per share.

It was followed by Nigerian Breweries with a loss of N1 to close at N114.03, while Ashaka Cement lost 50k to close at N21.50 per share.

UAC Property dropped 40k to close at N18, while Mansard Insurance lost 10k to close at N2.25 per share.

Oando emerged the most traded equity, accounting for 168.61 million shares worth N2.89 billion.

Transcorp posted a turnover of 74.82 million shares valued at N400.26 million, while ETI sold 37.95 million shares worth N529.49 million.

FCMB came fourth on the activity chart with 34.09 million shares valued at N119.31 million, while investors staked N41.88 million on 29.81 million shares of UBA Capital.

In all,  a total of 557.14 million shares worth N6.89 billion were traded by investors in 6,377 deals against 786.39 million shares valued at N4.85 billion traded in 5,211 deals on Wednesday.
