NPFL/La Liga U15 tournament: Katsina United beat Lobi 2-1, Gombe spring surprise over Pillars

Katsina United U15 team, on Wednesday, defeated their counterparts from Lobi Stars 2-1 in the ongoing NPFL/La Liga Promises tournament in Abuja.
The tournament, which kicked off on Monday at the FIFA goal project AstroTurf pitch of the Package B National Stadium, is expected to end on Friday.
Katsina United began the match on a bright note with some nice build up play from defence to attack which culminated in Ismail Nuhu scoring the first goal in the 9th minute.
Aliyu Abdulsalam doubled the lead in the 38th minute for the Katsina boys while Emmanuel Nwokoro of Lobi reduced the deficit with a sweet goal in the 50th minute.
The highly entertaining game ended 2-1 in favour of the Katsina boys who looked well drilled since the commencement of the tournament.
Hassan Adamu, Coach of Katsina United expressed joy at the result of the match but stressed on working harder on the remaining matches.
“I am happy with our play and the result but we still need to work harder, ” he said.
Lobi coach, Eugene Agagbe on his part said his team will work on the lapses discovered in the match.
In other matches played on Wednesday, Gombe United shocked Kano pillars 2-1 in a very tactical game while Abubakar Bukola Saraki (ABS) FC of Ilorin walked over Wikki Tourist of Bauchi.
Katsina United are currently topping the table with six points, followed by Lobi with four points. Kano pillars and Gombe United are on three points, while ABS have one point with two games left for each team.
A total of 20 teams are taking part in the five-day tournament in four zones across the country which include Kaduna, Edo, Enugu and Abuja.
Two teams each will qualify from each zone for the grand finale in Lagos.
