Kwara United returned to winning ways in the on-going Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) after forcing a win off hard fighting Yobe Desert Stars on Sunday in Ilorin.
The match day 20 was played at the Main-Bowl of the Kwara Stadium Complex.
The homers, who forced the visitors to a goalless draw last week in Damaturu, started the game with much seriousness and were rewarded with a goal in the 24th minute through returnee, Segun Alebiosu.
The applause over the goal was still in the air when Yobe equalised through Chinedu Ohanachum who flicked the ball to the right of goalkeeper Jonah Usman at close range.
The goal served as the needed tonic for the away team to re-launch themselves back into the game as the ding-dong affair continued till the end of the first half.
Kwara United increased the tempo of the game on resumption, lurching forward forcefully in search of the winning goal, which indeed came in the 65th minute as defender, Sunday Chinedu, rose above others and nodded home a corner kick.
With the win, Kwara United now have 22 points from 20 matches, and will play away to Niger Tornadoes in match day 21 in Minna.
Kwara United Coach, Abubakar Bala, said that the opponents gave his team a good challenge, but expressed delight at the victory.
He said that the team had been reinforced to maintain its NPFL status.
