The Nigeria Premier Football League has fixed the replay of the abandoned league game between Kano Pillars and Heartland FC of Owerri for Abuja at the Old Parade Ground on June 1.

The game was abandoned in the 30th minute when a policeman shot a fan at the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano.

The game was called-off after the incident and the Nigeria Premier Football League board rescheduled the game to be played in Abuja.

The initial plan to take the match to Ilorin, Kwara state was rejected by the management of Kano Pillars.

The League authorities have now moved the match to the Old Parade Ground.

Kano Pillars Media Officer, Idris Malikawa, disclosed that they are ready for the game that will boost their chances of wining the League trophy at the end of the season.

“We like the new venue which is the Old Parade Ground. The team will be ready for the game against Heartland because we need to improve our position on the league table after losing 3-0 to Kwara United last weekend.

“This is one match we need to win,” Malikawa said.

An official of Heartland also said they will do their best to win the game.

“We are presently on top of the league table and we intend to remain on top even after this game against Kano Pillars. This is a neutral ground and it is anybody’s game.

“All we ask for is to have good match officials for the game. After what we went through in the first game, the match officials should make sure that they do their best. That is all we ask for.”
