Enyimba Football club of Aba on Wednesday defeated Ifeanyi Uba FC of Nnewi by 2-0 in a rescheduled week nine of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).
The match took place at UJ Esuene Stadium, Calabar.
Joseph Osadiaye put the home side ahead in the 30th minute of the game to end first half at 1-0 in favour of Enyimba
During the second half, the visitors made frantic efforts to level scores but the Enyimba boys stood their ground and
doubled the lead shortly before the end of the match through their captain, Mfon Udo.
Speaking after the match, Enyimba Coach Gbenga Ogunbote said that the match was a big relief to the team, promising that the team would work harder to win their next match in Ilorin.
“It is a big relief for the team. The boys did very well and I am happy for them, ‘’ he said.
On his part, the Coach of Ifeanyi Ubah, Preko Yaw, lamented the team’s poor performance away from home, describing it as very bad.
“We do well at home but at away we have done very badly. We will have to improve on our away records but for now, we will go back and try to win our next game at home, ‘’ he said.
