NPFL: Back-to-back loss for Shooting Stars as Rangers defeat Remo

After going eight games without a loss, it is now a back-to-back loss for Shooting Stars of Ibadan in the ongoing Nigeria Premier Football League as they lost their second game in five days against Heartland of Owerri.
During the week, Kwara United dented the Oluyole Warriors’ title hopes with a 2-0 defeat in Ilorin with Heartland adding salt to the injury with a 2-1 win on Sunday evening.
Chukwuma Agor scored the opening goal for Heartland in the 31st minute of the game with Adams Mustapha equalising for the visitors in the 80th minute from the penalty spot.
The home team however had the last laugh after they were awarded a penalty of their own in the 88th minute with Charles Bassey having to take the kick twice to give Heartland the win.
In Enugu, it was a defeat for the league leader, Remo Stars, against the defending champion of the NPFL, Rangers with a goal in each half from Saviour Isaac and Kingsley Maduforo, with Sikiru Alimi scoring their Remo only goal of the game.
Despite the loss, Remo maintained their eight points lead at the top of the table against Shooting Stars after their loss in Owerri.
Earlier on Saturday, Ikorodu City secured a goalless draw against Nasarawa United while Enyimba defeated Rivers United 1-0.
It was a 1-0 victory for Kano Pillars and Kwara United against Abia Warriors and Bayelsa United respectively.
Sunshine Stars defeated Akwa United 1-0 with Plateau United beating El-Kanemi Warriors 2-0 as it ended 1-1 between Lobi Stars and Katsina United.
