Nobel Laureate, Jose Ramos-Horta, who is former President of Leste-Timor, is expected to lead the pack of eminent personalities to grace the event of seminar and public presentation of a book, Nigerians’ Views On National Turmoil: A Situational Quadruple Nexus Analysis, authored by Prof Babafemi Badejo, a retired United Nations official and professor of Political Science and International Relations in Abeokuta on Tuesday March 1, 2022.
The Nobel laureate will chair the event which will also have as Lead Discussants, Prof Stephem Commins, Associate Director, Global Public Affairs, Luskin School of Public Affairs, University of California, Los Angeles and Prof Isaac Olawale Albert, professor of African History, Peace and Conflict Studies, University of Ibadan.
Prof Badejo, the author, is of the Political Science and International Relations Department at Chrisland University, Abeokuta.
The event holds at 2pm at the Auditorium, Chrisland University, with the Vice-Chancellor, Prof Chinedum Peace Babalola, as Chief Host.
Other discussants at the book presentation include Associate Prof Olubukola of the University of Ibadan, Dr Temitope Bello of Crescent University, Abeokuta, Dr Chukwuemeka, Executive Director, West Africa Network for Peace Building, Accra, Ghana.
The Author’s teacher, Prof Adele Jinadu is also expected as one of the discussants at the event.
According to a statement by Chrisland University’s Head, Public Relations, Mr Ayo Arowojolu, the institution’s VC, Prof Babalola, has finalized all arrangements to accord a rousing reception for all participants at the event which she hopes would be memorable.
The author of the book, Prof Babafemi Badejo, has written a number of books in addition to two books, Raila Odinga: An Enigma in Kenyan Politics and Rethinking Security Initiatives in Nigeria.
In October 1991, the Minister of External Affairs approved his participation in the 46th Session of the UN General Assembly as Special Assistant to former President Olusegun Obasanjo on his bid for the position of the UN Secretary-General.
Badejo had formally left his academic career at the University of Lagos in 1996 for a career in peace operations at the United Nations, from where he retired in March 2017. He served in many conflict areas, including Somalia, Liberia, Guinea-Bissau and Darfur, Sudan.
