The Director, National Orientation Agency (NOA), Ebonyi Directorate, Mr Titus Chima, on Thursday urged the staff to respect authorities while in active civil service.
Chima, who gave the admonition during a send forth party by the Directorate in Abakaliki for four of its retirees in Ebonyi office, said that respect could enhance staff growth in the system
“You know in civil service, there is a time to enter and time to exit office. So, we have gathered to celebrate our retirees,” he stated.
The director described civil service as “a bureaucratic system” and urged staff to continue to work hard in order to move the nation forward.
“The civil service is a bureaucratic system. You don’t just come to finish the job on the same day. For serving staff, respect the authorities to grow in the system.
“It is only when you obey the rules in service that you can grow and retire peacefully.
“I congratulate our colleagues, who have served meticulously. It is not easy to work for 35 years and at 60 years without problems.
“Many have gotten the job but they could not get to the end.
“So, I congratulate them and may the good Lord continue to see them through as they move forward in their other endeavors,” Chima said.
One of the retirees, Dr Emma Abba, expressed happiness over the celebration and urged staff of the directorate to always embrace teamwork to excel in the service.
Abba, a pioneer Director in the Ebonyi office, said that unionism and teamwork became imperative in the efforts to promote the nation’s image.
Another Retiree, Mr Romanus Mbam, thanked the agency for celebrating them, urging the members of staff to keep faith together for a better Ebonyi and Nigeria.
