The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited has dismissed reports alleging that it is selling refinery scrap materials and equipment, describing such claims as false and misleading.

In a statement issued in Abuja, the company’s Chief Corporate Communications Officer, Andy Odeh, clarified that no approval or process has been initiated for the disposal of refinery assets.

He stressed that the company has not issued any tenders, bids, or expressions of interest for the sale of scrap metals, machinery, or components from its facilities.

Odeh also raised concerns over individuals falsely posing as representatives of the company to promote fraudulent sales of supposed refinery materials.

According to him, such actors are not authorised by NNPC Ltd. and are deliberately attempting to deceive the public.

He urged individuals, businesses, and industry stakeholders to ignore any such offers and remain cautious when approached with claims involving the sale of refinery equipment.

The company reiterated that it is not conducting any sale of scrap materials or assets from its refineries.

Odeh added that any legitimate disposal of company assets would follow established procedures, including transparent processes and official public announcements.

He encouraged members of the public to report suspicious activities or individuals to law enforcement agencies.

NNPC Ltd. reaffirmed its commitment to accountability, transparency, and the proper management of Nigeria’s energy resources.
