Satisfied with the smooth organisation of the annual Super Four Tournament which ended in Ilorin, Kwara State capital last Wednesday, the Chairman of the Nigeria National League board (NNL), High Chief Emeka Inyama, has commended the government and people of the North-Central state for hosting a perfect competition.
Speaking immediately after the final match which saw Gabros Internaional Football Club beat old-rivals Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan 2-0 at Kwara State Stadium, Ilorin, Inyama commended Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed for accepting, at short notice, to sponsor the 2014/2015 NNL Super Four Tournament.
According to him, “It takes a man like Governor Ahmed with deep interest in the development of the youths through sports and a lover of football to agree at short notice to bankroll the cost of organizing a big football fiesta like the NNL Super Four Tournament which brings together four top clubs that gained promotion to the elite division to play two games to determine the champion team of the season “.
He praised the Kwara State number one citizen for also making out time to play host to the NNL board members at the Government House in Ilorin, assuring him of the board’s sincere gratitude for his kind gesture.
Inyama who is also a member of the Executive Board of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) equally appreciated the efforts of some officials of Kwara State government and other stakeholders especially the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Alhaji I siaka Gold; Head of Service, Alhaji Dabarako Mohammed. ; Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Sports and many others who ensured the success of the soccer event.
Also, NNL vice chairman, Sir Emma Ochiagha, has singled out Gov. Ahmed for special praise for his financial backing for the successful hosting of the annual Super Four Tournament, adding that it will have been difficult for the board to organize the competition if Kwara state government had not come to the rescue.
This was also echoed by other board members Alhaji Tanko Nuhu, Emmanuel Zira and Alhaji Danladi Dodo who thanked the football fraternity in Kwara state for their support for the hosting of the soccer fiesta in Ilorin.
