The Nigerian Postal Service is set to commemorate the 2020 World Post Day with a two-day event, inviting the general public to participate.
The first day of the event, coming up on October 8 by 11 am on Zoom (https://zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_Y4UqUpwuQj2fVJbUXFLx1g), will feature a virtual colloquium on the topic “The Post in a Digital Economy”.
The colloquium will enlighten the public on how NIPOST is transforming itself to meet the challenges of the digital economy.
Chairman of NIPOST, Mrs Maimuna Yahaya Abubakar, will chair the virtual colloquium.
The Keynote address is to be delivered by Dr. Ismail Adewusi, Postmaster General of the Federation and Chief Executive Officer of NIPOST.
Dr. Asuquo Abianga, Director, Nigerian Postal Institute, will handle the lecture.
The discussants will include former Lagos Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Steve Ayorinde; Public Commentator, Mr. Kayode Ogundamisi and Mr. Siyanbola Oladapo, Chief Executive Officer, Bowill Group.
The virtual colloquium is to be anchored by Fadesola Sotinwa of Arise TV.
On the second day, the event, which is to come up on October 9 by 11 am at NAF Conference Centre (Main venue) and other NIPOST formations across Nigeria, will be wrapped up with “Launch of Stamp Compendium & Presentation of Prizes to Winners of the 2020 UPU Letter Writing Competition”
Dr. Isa Ali Pantami, Minister for Communication and Digital Economy, will chair the programme, while Chairman of NIPOST, Mrs Maimuna Yahaya Abubakar, will deliver the welcome address.
Dr. Ismail Adewusi, Postmaster General of the Federal and Chief Executive Officer of NIPOST, will handle the presentation of prizes and launching of stamp compendium.
World Post Day is celebrated each year on October 9. The event was declared by the 1969 Universal Postal Congress in Tokyo as a means to mark the anniversary of the Universal Postal Union’s (UPU) creation in 1874.
