The Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, NIMASA, on Friday, donated relief materials to Enugu State Government. The relief materials were in three segments.

Presenting the items to Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, who was represented by the Deputy Governor, Mrs Cecilia Ezeilo, at the Government House, Enugu, the Director General of NIMASA, Bashir Jamoh, said the donation was part of the agency’ Corporate Social Responsibility, to the state.

Jamoh, who was represented by the director, public private partnership, Kelvin Ogbuanu, said that NIMASA has a culture of visiting states across the country that have been affected by all sorts of crises, including communal, ethnic and flood victims.

He said that this was the first time Enugu was benefitting from NIMASA’s Corporate Social Responsibility .

Jamoh said the items were educational materials for advancement of education, equipment for encouragement of Small and Medium Enterprises in Enugu State. The agency also donated food items worth millions of naira to provide succour to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in the state.
He thanked the member representing Nkanu East/West Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, Nnolim Nnaji, who attracted the materials.
“Henceforth, we will make sure that the state benefits from our agency’s CSR, just like other states have been benefitting” he said.

Receiving the items on behalf of the state, Mrs. Ezeilo thanked the DG of NIMASA for remembering the state and Nnaji for making sure that Enugu was not left out in the distribution.

In his brief remarks, Nnaji, who is also a House Committee member on NIMASA, said it was part of his responsibility as a representative of the people to ensure that the people feel the presence of the government.

“I will do my best to make sure that we are not left out again just as our governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, is doing,” he said.

The items presented included books, motorcycles, mattresses, grinding machines, desktops, UPS and food items, among others.
