Nigerian singer, ‘Ruger’ laments effect of tour on love life

Afrobeats singer, Michael Olayinka, popularly known as Ruger, has lamented over the frequent touring that has negatively affected his love life.

 

The renowned singer, via his social media platforms, said the impact of his career tours on his relationship could not be over-emphasised.

 

According to him, his numerous romantic relationships have experienced setbacks due to his music career and love from fans.

 

The singer expressed a desire to settle down soon, in spite of the challenges of maintaining relationships.

 

”Being on the road has really affected my love life. It became worse after I went back to my black hair and low cut because these girls have been all over me.

 

“But deep down, I really wanna settle down soon,” he wrote.

 

He further said that touring has also strained his family relationships because of his busy schedules.

 

The singer stressed that his career had made people to recognised, and book him globally as they seek for his performance worldwide.

 

”I hardly even see my family because, trust me; I am the most booked artist in this country.

 

“People want to see me on stage around the world. They want that Ruger sauce every month,” he added.

 

Ruger is a singer-songwriter known for his unique blend of Afrobeats, hip-hop, and dancehall.

 

He began his career by singing in his church choir and school band, and was signed to D’Prince’s label, Jonzing World in 2020.

 

His breakout came with the 2021 single “Bounce,” which led to the release of his debut EP, Pandemic, and his rise to fame.

 

Ruger’s achievements include chart-topping songs like ‘Asiwaju’, which topped the Apple Music Chart in Nigeria for a month and the release of his debut album ‘Ru the World’.

 

He has also been recognised with awards such as Best New Artiste at the Sound city MVP Awards, and has built a substantial following with millions of streams and followers on platforms like Spotify and Instagram.
