Nigerian Breweries (NB) Plc will be responsible for the maintenance of Costain, Apapa-Ijora Road beautification gardens, Lagos State Parks and Gardens Agency (LASPARK), has said.
Mrs Titi Animashaun, General Manager of the Agency, said on Friday in Lagos that the partnership with the Nigerian Breweries would ensure adequate maintenance of the gardens.
“This means that NB Plc will take full charge of ensuring that the gardens in the area are in good condition.

“Everything from the reconstruction of the gardens, planting new trees and redesigning the area, if there is need, will be handled by NB Plc,” she said.

Mr Vindem Edem, spokesman of Nigerian Breweries, said that another company would handle the reconstruction of the gardens.

The Costain axis of the garden had been in bad shape, following the reconstruction of the drainage channels in front of the National Theatre main gate.

The gardens under the Orile-Ijora Bridge are also unkempt.

The LASPARK chief had earlier stressed the need to carry out soil test to determine the extent of oil pollution in the area.

According to her, the test will not only assist remediation work, it would also help to ascertain the type of trees that should be planted in the park.
