Nigeria is failing, youth group berates APC, knocks PDP, others

A youth Group, the New Generation Leadership, NGL, has criticised opposition Political parties in Nigeria, especially the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for its failure to provide resistance and counter-balance to the policies of the ruling All progressive Congress, APC, as the nation continues to show signs of a failing state.

The secretary of the group, Mr Adedayo Adegbayibi, stated this in a statement, while reacting to the alleged kidnap of over 300 students of Government Girls Secondary School, Jangebe, Zamfara, a week after 42 students and staff were kidnapped in Kagara, Niger State.

The NewGeneration Leadership says opposition parties have lost their voices, thus failing in their roles to criticise, condemn and create alternatives to the failures of the ruling APC.

According to the statement, the NGL which expressed shock and disappointment at the growing rate of insecurity, poverty , corruption, unemployment and lnfrastructure deficit in Nigeria, lamented that “President Muhammadu Buhari and his APC does not have the will and capacity, to handle the many challenges facing the country”.

The Youth Group said, “the wanton killings of innocent citizens by bandits, spate of terrorism, ethnic clashes and increase in cases of kidnapping by a section of the country, while the Federal Government has not been able to bring perpetrators to book or curtail the trend has further worsened the security situation in the country”.

“The Federal Government should wake up to its responsibilities of protecting lives and properties of citizens. The ruling APC should not wait till when the people would resort to self-help and take laws into their hands, as this would only lead to anarchy”, the statement reads.

The NGL Scribe, said “the dwindling economy of Nigeria due to lack of clear-cut policies and blueprint, increase in unemployment and level of poverty have made life more unbearable for Nigerians. ”

Adegbayibi advised the masses, civil society groups, human rights activists and other well spirited Nigerians to speak up and talk to power to halt the trend saying “without mincing words, there are clear signs of a failing State. We must not allow everything to collapse before we halt the trend”.

He urged, political parties in opposition to buckle-up, saying lapses on their part to keep the ruling party on their toes are responsible for some of the mal-administration witnessed.
