Niger Government on Sunday declared Monday, Nov. 4, as a work free day, to commemorate the new Islamic calender.
Monday will mark the first day of the Islamic month of Muharam 1435 AH.
This is contained in a statement issued in Minna by the state Head of Service, Alhaji Abbas Bello.
In the statement, Gov. Babangida Aliyu urged Muslims to pray for peace and sustainable development of the state and the country.
He advised civil servants to reflect on their commitment to duty, and reiterated the resolve of the administration to the promotion of religious peace and social harmony.
