nffThe Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) will have a new home to call its own after 68 years when it was first founded as the Nigeria Football Association (NFA).

The football federation’s office was at a time located in Nigeria’s former capital, Lagos, precisely on Ogunlana Drive in Surulere before it was moved to Abuja at the turn of this Millenium.

According to Nigerian Daily Times edition of August 21, 1933, the football association’s formation was proposed 80 years ago with its first meeting billed for the popular Broad Street in Lagos which did not happen.

But on Thursday history beckons on the federation, as Nigeria’s president, Goodluck Jonathan is expected to open a new football house inside the Package B of the National Stadium, Abuja.

The new edifice has a 27-room facility as well as a penthouse that will serve as the office of the NFF president.

The building is located just beside the Fifa Technical Centre and football turf.

“We are looking forward very much to receiving His Excellency, President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan (GCFR) at the inauguration of the NFF Headquarters. This epoch-making event once again underscores our president’s keen love for, and interest in football and the Nigeria youth, which he has always demonstrated

”The NFF and the entire Nigeria football is grateful to His Excellency for approving the project, and we also commend the Honourable Minister of Sports for his tremendous support to ensure the completion of the project,” said the NFF president, Aminu Maigari.

The inauguration of the building by Jonathan will end NFF’s time using temporary offices in close to seven decades of its existence.
