The Nigeria Football Association (NFA) said it was working to ensure that issues relating to the contract renewal of Stephen Keshi as Super Eagles Head Coach were concluded before February 28.
Musa Amadu, Secretary-General of the NFA, said in Abuja on Wednesday that the contract must be finalised before the team’s double-header friendly in March.
Amadu, who refused to mention the countries the Eagles would confront in the friendly matches, noted that it would be between African and South American countries.
“We are trying as much as possible to see that we play two matches next month and engagement in this regard has gone very far.
“I can confirm that we will play a game on Thursday March 26 here in Nigeria; the second match will take place a few days later outside Nigeria because of the elections.
“As soon as everything is tied up, we will be able to let you know but we are making every arrangement to ensure that we play two matches in March.
“Its important we do that, we believe that before these two games, we should be able to tidy up the issue of the coach for the team’’, Amadu said.
Similarly, Felix Anyasi-Agwu, Chairman of the NFA Technical Committee, said Keshi would be awarded a new contract as the committee had made recommendations to the NFA Board.
Keshi has been out of job since the expiration of his contract with the NFA as the Super Eagles Head Coach after the 2014 World Cup.
The Super Eagles are expected to begin their qualifying matches for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in June, while qualifiers for 2018 FIFA World Cup kicks off in October.
