The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) on Thursday distributed drugs to four hospitals in Kano State to support flood victims and other emergencies.

While presenting the items, NEMA Director-General, Mustapha Habib-Ahmed, said the donation was made by Map International to the Kano hospitals.

Habib-Ahmed, represented by NEMA Coordinator, Kano and Jigawa Territorial office, Dr Nuraddeen Abdullahi, said the donation was to complement the efforts of the Federal government in providing quality healthcare service to victims of floods, kidnapping and banditry.

He listed the benefitting hospitals to include Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital, Bichi General Hospital, Wudil General Hospital and Karaye General Hospital.

Some of the items distributed included prenatal micronutrient supplement X100, knee walker, syringe, krill oil 500mg, eye glasses, respirator, lancet pro-care, bactine spray, disposable barrier gown and sharp collector among others.

In his remarks, Gov. Abdullahi Ganduje, thanked NEMA for the support and urged beneficiaries to ensure judicious use of the items.

Ganduje, represented by the Executive Secretary, Kano State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Dr Saleh Jili, called for continuous synergy between SEMA and NEMA.

He advised members of the public, particularly women using firewood, cooking gas and charcoal, to handle fire with care and switch off electrical appliances whenever not in use.

Ganduje also called on residents to desist from indiscriminate dumping of refuse and to always clear drainages to avert flooding.

Responding, the Kano State Director, Hospital Management Board, Dr Nasiru Alhassan-Kabo, commended NEMA for the kind gesture.

Alhassan-Kabo, represented by the Deputy Director Hospital Management Board, Ibrahim Abdullahi, said the hospitals would ensure good use of the equipment.
