NBC DG: We don’t have accounts with commercial bank, says ‘report against Lai Mohammed concocted’

“Our attention has been drawn to a report by the ‘Saharareportersrescue’‎ website to the effect that the EFCC has frozen the accounts of the NBC in three commercial banks over a purported financial infraction involving the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed.

“We wish to state clearly that the NBC has no accounts with any commercial bank, hence its accounts could not have been frozen

‎”Concerning the N10 billion NBC fund that was referred to in the bogus story, we wish to state clearly that we are aware of efforts being made by the Minister to get the fund released for the purpose for which it was meant – the digital broadcast switch over. We have a copy of the letter which the Minister wrote for the release of the fund, and nowhere in the letter was it stated that the money would be used for any purpose other than that for which it was meant.

“We challenge anyone with any letter that contradicts what we have stated to publish such immediately”.
