As the legal profession call to Bar new entrants, the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has  given direction on payment of practising fees by the ‘new wigs’.

This is contained in a circular made available in Lagos and issued by NBA National Publicity Secretary, Dr. Repulu Nduka.

Successful candidates in the 2022 Bar Final Examination were  called to the Nigerian Bar on Wednesday in Abuja.

According to the NBA, payment of the practising fee by the new entrants can only be made online through the NBA portal.

” In line with the rules, the new entrants are mandated to pay their Bar Practising Fee (BPF).

“Consequently, BPF payment by new entrants to the  Bar can only be made through the NBA Online Payment Portal,” the NBA stated.

It advised the new entrants to visit the NBA website: https://nigerianbar.org.ng/nba/nls and type their examination numbers  and provide other needed information.

“New entrants experiencing challenge(s) in the use of the online payment portal should kindly send emails to: [email protected] or [email protected],” it said.

It also advised new entrants encountering any challenge to contact NBA help lines including 08035479443, 07037000903 and 08033803724.

A total of 1,507 graduands from the Nigerian Law School adorned the wig and robe as new lawyers at the event organised by the Body of Benchers.

While 1,501 of the lawyers are fresh graduates, the remaining six are from the previous call.

Their graduation followed the Nigerian Bar Final Examinations held in May.
