NB reassures winners of N14.5m grants its readiness to sustain support

Head of Nigerian Brewery in Enugu, Mr Abiodun Ajayi, has reassured winners and potential recipients of grants under the Life Continental Beer Entrepreneurship Development programme of the brand’s commitment to growing their businesses.
Ajayi made the pledge in a statement on Wednesday.
According to him, Life Continental Lager Beer is resolute in granting N14.5 million to 50 young entrepreneurs who reside and hail from the five South-Eastern states of Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu, Abia and Imo.
He said that Life Continental Lager Beer, a brand of the Nigeria Breweries, recently offered additional grants of N3 million to 12 young entrepreneurs within the South-East zone to boost their businesses.
Life Continental Lager Beer, had earlier in June, given out N3 million to 12 young entrepreneurs in the brand’s on-going “Life Continental Beer Progress Booster Radio Project’’.
Ajayi said that the list of the second batch of 12 winners of the business project was out.
He advised all the 12 recipients of the N250, 000 grant to ensure that their investment would yield enough returns to make them employers of labour.
“With this, Life has supported 24 talents since the commencement of the programme in May and 26 more to go.
“As you receive these cash grants, we expect you to succeed in the business line you have chosen.
“Make judicious investment of the money given to you and ensure that your investment yield returns and turn your business into an employer of labour.
“If you succeed in taking your business idea to the next desirable level, you stand a chance of receiving additional N250, 000 earmarked for eight winners.
“The experts that assessed and judged your business proposals will be monitoring your progress and they will be there to mentor and provide valuable advice when necessary,’’ Ajayi said.

Mrs Chinwendu Nwoye, one of the recipients with the business proposal for fashion designing, said that the grant would assist to acquire designing machines and a display stand for her shop in Awka, Anambra State.

“It will go a long way to assist me stock the latest fashion designing machines which will make my production more appealing, automated and meet the needs of my individual and corporate customers, especially UNIZIK students,’’ Nwoye said.
Another winner, Mr Maxwell Madubuike, with a palm oil production business proposal, said that the grant would enable him stock more palm fonts and buy latest machines for production.
Under the programme, budding entrepreneurs must have workable business ideas, attained 18 years of age and come from the South-East zone.
Life Continental Lager beer was in June presented with Gold award in the prestigious Monde International Quality Award 2015.
