The Nigerian Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), has felicitated its former President, Mrs Ifeyinwa Omowole, on her appointment as the Head of Editorial Operations, NAN, Lagos Office.
Omowole was recently elevated by the Management of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) as the Head of Editorial Operations.
This is contained in a statement issued by the Chairperson of NAWOJ, Hajia Aisha Ibrahim, a copy. of which was made available to newsmen in Lagos on Thursday,
According to her, the national executive members felicitates with her and prayed God to grant her wisdom to discharge her duties.
Omowole, a Deputy Editor-in-Chief in NAN, is also the first female to be appointed as Head of Editorial Department of the agency’s office in Lagos.
Ibrahim said that Omowole was the only female among the eight members of staff redeployed recently by the agency.
In the same vein, a former Vice President of Zone D, Mrs Ese Williams has also congratulated Omowole on her appointment.
Williams, who is also a staff of NAN, said the appointment was well deserved and prayed God to grant her the wisdom to discharge her duties without fear or favour.
Omowole served as a two-term NAWOJ president between 2014 and 2020.
Omowole is known for gender advocacy and a good role model to successful female journalists in Nigeria.
She has received many awards for mentoring female journalists on grassroots gender reportage.
