christian_chukwuThe former chief coach of the Super Eagles, Chairman Christian Chukwu, has been appointed the General Coordinator of the PDP National Youth Football Championship.

This was disclosed by the Acting National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr. Remi Akintoye, who expressed total support and commitment of the party towards the success of the PDP National Youth Football Championship.

Akintoye stated this when the National Coordinator of the championship, African Football Legend and former Chief Coach of the Super Eagles, Coach, Christian Chukwu, paid him a courtesy visit in his office.

Expressing satisfaction with the choice of Christian Chukwu as the National Coordinator of the championship, the PDP National Secretary stressed that, with his pedigree in football matters, he had the capacity to achieve the high expectations of the party in the championship.

According to him, the party places high premium on the affairs of the youths and described the championship as a laudable project designed to promote the well-being of the youths.

Earlier, Chukwu had informed the National Secretary that the purpose of the visit was to intimate him with the progress so far made in the preparation for the championship.

He thanked the party for the opportunity given him to serve as the National coordinator of the championship and re-affirmed his unflinching commitment towards its success.

Chukwu commended the party for its decision to embark on the youth football championship which according to him will help to curb the incessant youth restiveness, as well as become a veritable platform to discover and nurture hidden football talents in the country.

While presenting Coach Christian Chukwu to the Acting National Secretary, the Acting National Youth Leader, Mr. Tanko Beji, described him as African Football Legend who had paid his dues in the service of the country.

He noted that the party made the right choice in appointing him as the National Coordinator of the championship and promised that every effort would be made to ensure that he succeeds on this very important assignment.

The PDP National Youth Football Championship is scheduled to hold later this year. lt will involve teams representing PDP Chapters from the 774 Local Government Areas in the 36 States of the Federation and Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

However, preparations are on top gear for the inauguration of the National Organizing Committee (NOC), for the National Youth Football Championship.

The inauguration ceremony which will be performed by the National Chairman of the Party, Alhaji (Dr.) Bamanga Tukur will come up at the end of the month.
