garba_umar2The Taraba Government on Thursday in Jalingo, inaugurated a 23-member committee to mobilise the people of the state for the proposed National Dialogue.

The committee is made up of seven special delegates and 16 persons representing the 16 local government areas of the state.

Speaking at the inauguration, the state acting governor, Alhaji Garba Umar, urged the committee to come up with a paper that would capture the position of the state to present to the Presidential Advisory Committee on National Dialogue.

Umar called on the committee to accelerate its work to meet the one week deadline for submission at the zonal meeting in Bauchi.

Also speaking, Mr. Yusuf Janwe, the Conference Assistant to the National Dialogue, said he had come to assist the state and its interest groups on how to prepare and present the memoranda.

Janwe urged the people of the state to feel free and express their views regarding the composition, timing, structure and the agenda of the Dialogue.

He, however, said that religious groups and political parties were exempted from submitting memoranda.
