CAN expresses concern over incessant kidnappings, killings in Taraba

CAN

Chairman, North-East chapter of the Christian Association of Niagara (CAN), Rev Shuiabu Byal, has congratulated Hon. Yakubu Dogara on his election as the Speaker of the House of Representatives on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Dogara represents Bogoro/Tafawa Balewa/Dass Federal Constituency of Bauchi State.
Byal gave the congratulatory message on Sunday in Bauchi on behalf of Christians from the region immediately after an interdenominational service organised by ECWA II Church, Railway, Bauchi.
Dogara was the third person to occupy such an exalted position in the country from the region.
This was after the late Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, the country’s first prime minister and Atiku Abubakar, the deputy to former President Olusegun Obasanjo, he said.
He said that the region needed a higher position than that of a speaker but that, “the region can still do with the election of Dogara as speaker.”
Byal called on Nigerians, especially people of the region irrespective of their religious, political and tribal affiliations, to pray for President Mohammadu Buhari and other leaders so that they could bring the desired change to the country.
He said that Buhari’s led administration needed prayers to enable it win its war against insurgency and restore the lost glory of the country.
The chairman called on candidates, who contested against Dogara during the election, to shun sentiment and pray for the success of the speaker during his tenure.
He commended the legislators and Nigerians who stood firmly behind Dogara during the struggle and urged them to give the speaker more support for him excel.
