Naira appreciates by 0.6% against dollar at parallel market

Naira slumps to N340 to dollar at parallel market

The naira on Wednesday appreciated by 0.6 per cent against the dollar at the parallel market few days after government entered into a currency swap deal with China.
The Nigerian currency gained N2 to exchange at N320 to the dollar from N322 it traded previously.

The pound sterling and the Euro, however, maintained their previous rates of N450 and N360, respectively at the parallel market.

The naira also maintained N197 to the dollar at the official CBN segment.

Traders said that the naira might soon appreciate against other foreign currencies due to the yuan swap deal.
