Some unknown gunmen on Tuesday night invaded ARDIS farm‎ located at Lagun in Lagelu Local Government Area of Oyo State, shooting the security guard, Mr Jimi Aido.
The suspects numbering about 18 invaded the farm around 8. p.m., forcing their way into the premises and carting away an undisclosed amount of money.
ARDIS farm has about 500 arcs of land that had been in existence since 1991, producing livestock and farm produce.
The Farm Manager, Emmanuel Ashava, while narrating ‎the incident, told newsmen that the suspects came into the farm with sophisticated weapons and operated for almost seven hours.

According to Ashava, the suspects wore masks and spoke pidgin English, Hausa and Yoruba language.

He said that this was the first time such an incident was occurring in the farm in over 21 years of existence.

“We are experiencing this for the first time in the farm and it is very unfortunate our security guard was shot; but he has been taken to Iwo Medical hospital,’’ he said.

Ashava, who said he could not identify where the assailants came from, said three incidents of robbery took place on Ibadan-Iwo road early the same day.

The owner of the farm and former Secretary to the State Government in Oyo, Mr Ayodele Adigun, claimed that the suspects had been terrorising ‎other farms in the area.

Adigun called on the state government for assistance.

The spokesman of the Oyo State Police Command, Mr Adekunle Ajisebutu, when contacted on phone, said he had not been briefed on the robbery incident.‎
