A top chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has allegedly made members of the House of Representatives committee probing the purchase of two BMW cars at a whopping N255 million for use of Aviation Minister, Ms Stella Oduah, an offer of $5 million (about N800m).
A source privy to the alleged offer, who is close to the Presidency, disclosed this on condition of anonymity, saying members of the probe panel were offered the princely sum allegedly to exonerate the embattled Minister in their investigation report.
The alleged offer was said to have been made by the top PDP chieftain at the weekend, to save Minister who believed to be one of President Goodluck Jonathan’s closest aides, following the perceived significant role she played in his 2011 election campaign.
Oduah had on October 31, 2013, admitted before the probe panel headed by Hon. Nkiruka Chibubem Onyejeocha, that she gave approval for the purchase of the cars while expecting the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority to ‘do the needful’. She denied the cars were purchased for her.
