Aareonakakanfo of Yorubaland,
Iba Gani Abiodun Ige Adams, on Monday, gave reason for the celebration of the anniversary of Aareonakakanfo of Yorubaland.
He also said the celebration was one of the success stories of the late Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, saying the revered stool of the Alaafin of Oyo is the pride of Yoruba race.
Speaking in Omole,Ikeja,Lagos during the celebration of the 7th anniversary,where six new chiefs were installed,Iba Adams said the event marked another milestone in the history of the stool of the Yoruba generalissimo.
He stated further that the sacred stool was established in 1530 and had remained a prestigious position in Yoruba land.
Iba Adams added that all those that were installed as the Aare-In-Council were chosen based on their character and love for Yoruba land.
“My Installation anniversary is more spiritual than ceremonial. People begin to wonder why we celebrate the anniversary annually.
“It is the tradition of the stool.It is the best way to sustain the stool.
“The Aare in Council chiefs are my traditional advisers and their job is to promote our tradition culture and heritage.Their job is to help ensure peace and unity in Yoruba land.
Their job is to work with me in driving the cause of Yoruba race.
“Therefore,the reason for installing the chiefs is to add value to the stool by doing their very best to transform Yoruba land”.
Royal father of the day,who is also the Alaguda of Aguda Kingdom,Oba Akeem Agbaosi, applauded Iba Adams for changing the narratives of Yoruba race positively.
The Aguda monarch also charged members of the OPC and the Aare In Council to support Iba in his efforts to advance the cause of Yoruba race.
Six new members of the Aare – in- Council were newly installed, and the traditional rites were performed accordingly.
Asoju Aareonakakanfo of Yoruba land, Chief Yinka Oguntimehin, read the Code of Conduct,to the new chiefs.
Meanwhile,the six newly installed chiefs in council include: Prince Adedipe Dauda Ewenla who is the Akinjagunla Aareonakakanfo of Yorubaland) Chief Badaru Akeem Adebajo is the Osi Balogun Aareonakakanfo of Yorubaland Alhaji Monsuru Lawal Amubieya Bada Aareonakakanfo of Yorubaland and Chief Mrs Adegbaike Ishola,the Iya Oodua General of OPC who is also the Yeye Gunwa Aareonakakanfo of Yorubaland.
