Evelyn Champagne King, legendary musician and main performer at the 2015 Ovation Carol sponsored by Globacom, has promised a delightful time for music lovers at the event.
The carol which is tagged “Christmas in Lagos” will be held at the Convention Centre of Eko Hotel and Suites on Sunday, December 20.
The American veteran singer, who is expected to arrive in Nigeria on Sunday morning, said her participation at the carol felt like a homecoming for her.
“This is your sister coming home to perform at the Ovation Carol,” said a very excited King in a promotional video specifically shot to celebrate the show.
“We are ready to rock this Christmas season together in Lagos City, I promise you. Get your dancing shoes ready. Trust me, you deserve a standing ovation,” enthused King, whose love songs ruled the global music scene including Nigeria in the 1970s and 80s.
Some of her biggest included “Love Come Down”, “I don’t know if it’s right”, “I’m in Love” and “Shame”. She urged her fans to meet her at the event for a memorable Yuletide.
Other great acts that would entertain at the carol are Evangelist Obey Fabiyi, Wizkid, Omawumi, StoneBwoy from Ghana, the Mass Choir, Gbenga Adenuga, Abiodun Koya and a host of other first class performers. DJ Cuppy will complement them on the turntable.
Nollywood veteran, Richard Mofe-Damijo, will anchor the event, Globacom stated.
The company commended the theme, “It’s all about hope”, describing it as being at the foundation of the existence of human beings.
It noted that, without hope, life would be meaningless as it was the engine that drove humanity. It also described the Ovation Carol’s aim of helping charity organizations as deserving the support of well meaning organisations.
