Musa warns Eagles against complacency

Nigeria attacking winger, Ahmed Musa, has warned his teammates not to treat their opponents in Saturday’s 2017 AFCON qualifier, Tanzania, as minnows.
Surely on paper, the Nigerians are favourites if the latest FIFA men’s ranking are anything to go by considering that Tanzania are rated the number 140th nation by the world football governing body, a position which is 87 places below the West Africans.
But Musa said “there is no reason to underrate” the Tanzanians ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.
The CSKA Moscow man, however, stated that he and his teammates are ready for the match-up with the East Africans this weekend.
“We cannot think we have won this match before it is played. I want the three points, my teammates want the three points. For me, I am not talking of scoring but I am talking of winning the three points because that is what matters now, and whoever scores will be Okay by me and for the team provided the three points are won.
“I can say we are ready for this match, and there is no reason to underrate our opponents as there are no small teams anymore,” he said.
CSKA Moscow forward, Ahmed Musa, has been handed the responsibility of leading Nigeria’s Super Eagles in Saturday’s 2017 AFCON against Tanzania in Dar es Salaam as captain in the absence of Vincent Enyeama, who is bereaved and opted to withdraw from the game.
“For me, I think am not under pressure to lead the team. I did it before in South Africa and by the grace of God we would return with victory. We watched the Tanzania game (on Tuesday) and we know how they play.
“We don’t have to under rate any country in Africa and we would just go there and do our best,” said the stand-in Nigeria captain.
Musa previously captained the Super Eagles in the 1-1 draw with South Africa in an international friendly in Durban on March 30 this year.
