Super Eagles striker, Victor Moses, is impressed with the spirit shown by players of Stoke City in the club’s come-from-behind Barclays English Premier League 2-1 victory over Aston Villa at Villa Park.

Moses scored a late penalty to help his side claim maximum points and afterwards, he spoke about the importance of the right attitude displayed by his teammates.

“We showed tremendous spirit to come back into the game after going behind,” Moses told Stoke City’s official website.

The Super Eagles winger then praised the quality of the side adding that it game him confidence that the Potters would eventually secure the points at Villa Park.

“With the ability of players we have in the squad, we always knew we had the capabilities to get something from the game. It was a good result for us, especially as we had to deal with the hype of them having a new manager which will have given them a boost. It was perfect timing for us to bounce back as well, especially after the disappointment of last weekend.

“We picked ourselves up straight away and hopefully with this result we can move on and look ahead to the rest of the season,” he said.

Moses’ winner was his third in Potters colours and admitted afterwards he never had any doubt in taking the spot-kick despite regular penalty taker Jonathan Walters being on the pitch.

The winger revealed afterward that skipper Glenn Whelan was the first to ask if he was okay with taking the penalty right at the death and Moses admitted he was always confident stepping up.

He added that he also drew from his experience of been the regular penalty taker for the Super Eagles.

“As soon as I won the penalty, I wanted to take it.I was comfortable about taking it. I was looking at the ‘keeper as I stepped up and I never had any doubt I was going to score. It’s not the first time I have taken a penalty, I take them regularly at international level and I am very happy to have got on the scoresheet.

“That’s nice personally, but the main thing is that we all dug out after a difficult period and gained the three points,” he said.
