Mark felicitates former Head of State, Abubakar at 83

Former President of the Senate, David Mark, has congratulated Retired General Abdulsalami Abubakar, on his 83rd birthday.

Mark, in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media, Paul Mumeh, on Friday in Kano, described Abubakar, a former Head of State as a true patriot.

He prayed for continued good health, peace of mind, and divine wisdom for Abubakar in the years ahead.

Mark, who also commended Abubakar for his pivotal role in transitioning the country to democratic governance, said that although democracy had its imperfections, but remained the most viable and preferred system for the country.

“Gen. Abubakar earned the trust and confidence of Nigerians by keeping his word to end military rule and usher in democratic governance.

“He is without a doubt, a man of peace in every sense”, he said.

Mark commended Abubakar’s enduring dedication to national unity and stability through the National Peace Committee.

According to him, the committee, which Abubakar is the chairman, had been instrumental in promoting peace, especially during critical periods in the country.

Mark said that the country would continue to benefit from Abubakar’s wisdom, statesmanship, and unwavering commitment to peace and development.
